BIG BROTHER BIG SISTER OF THE EASTERN SHORE - WORCESTER - VOLUNTEER MENTORS

Did someone make an impression on your life? Here is your opportunity to pay it forward.

Our Bigs come from diverse backgrounds, just like our Littles. They are regular people, just like you. You don’t need any special degrees or job skills. You just have to want to impact a young person positively. Role models come in all shapes and sizes, and you could be a perfect fit! Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful mentorship matches between volunteer “Bigs” and children “Littles,” ages 6-18. We then provide the necessary training, resources, and support for those matches to succeed.

Get involved in one of the following ways:

  1. Community Based Mentoring - Volunteer mentors commit to seeing their mentees in the community 2 to 3 times each month for a minimum of one year. Case managers provide ongoing support to volunteers, children and their families.
  2. Site and School Based Mentoring - Mentor meet their mentees at a designated site. Activities can be coordinated in a group during a specific day and time, or matches can meet one to one during lunch and recess. Case managers provide on-site and off-site support to help ensure their success.
  3. High School and College Bigs - Local students paired with elementary or middle school mentees. Matches meet for structured, facilitated activities.
  4. Bigs in Blue - Law enforcement officers are paired one to one with children facing adversity in the community or school.
  5. Beyond School Walls - Students are paired with a mentor at a work site and taught soft skills through facilitated activities.

Right here in Worcester County, Big Brother Big Sisters has partnered with Buckingham Elementary School in Berlin. In this mentoring opportunity, a Big will meet with their Little at the school for up to 60 minutes once a week for one school year.

Additional Information

For over 115 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been a charitable organization that makes a huge impact on children everywhere – by matching children facing adversity, “Littles”, with volunteer mentors, “Bigs”. The children enrolled in our youth mentoring program consistently overcome adversity and beat the odds thanks to the support of their mentors and our team of highly trained program specialists.

Our services are free of charge to enrolled children and families and are made possible by donations from our local communities on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

Our agency provides services to the following areas of Maryland (MD): Caroline County, Cecil County, Dorchester County, Kent County, Queen Anne’s County, Somerset County, Talbot County, Wicomico County, and Worcester County.
