Big Brother Big Sister of the Eastern Shore - Adult Volunteer Mentors

Did someone make an impression on your life? Here is your opportunity to pay it forward.

Our Bigs come from diverse backgrounds just like our Littles. They are regular people, just like you. You don’t need any special degrees or job skills. You just have to want to positively impact a young person. Role models come in all shapes and sizes, and you could be a perfect fit!

Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, mentorship matches between volunteer “Bigs” and children “Littles”, ages 6-18. We then provide the necessary training, resources, and support for those matches to succeed. We conduct our program in the following ways.

Check out their website on how you can make a difference in a child's life.

The following steps will lead you to your little match:

  • Step 1: Qualifying - Qualifying all prospective Littles for need and capacity for match success.
  • Step 2: - Recruitment - Recruit new volunteers through referral, marketing, social media, corporate partners, and events.
  • Step 3: Interviewing - Interview all prospective Bigs and Littles to get to know their personalities and interest. We also thoroughly background check all volunteers via Live Scan, DMV, and the FBI.
  • Step 4: Matching - Match a Big to a Little based upon multiple variables with the goal of creating a long-term friendship.
  • Step 5: Monitoring & Support - We support Bigs and Littles as they face the multitudes of challenges life creates and monitor the matches for safety and longevity.

Now to get started on a new chapter in your life!

Additional Information

For over 115 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been a charitable organization that makes a huge impact on children everywhere – by matching children in need, “Littles”, with caring adult volunteer mentors, “Bigs”. The children enrolled in our youth mentoring program consistently overcome adversity and beat the odds thanks to the support of their mentors and our team of highly trained program specialists.

Our services are free of charge to enrolled children and families and are made possible by donations from our local communities on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

Our agency provides services to the following areas of Maryland (MD): Caroline County, Cecil County, Dorchester County, Kent County, Queen Anne’s County, Somerset County, Talbot County, Wicomico County, and Worcester County.
